About us
A story that began up north
NordWood is a family workshop in Coteala, Briceni district — right at the northern tip of Moldova, on the Ukrainian border. It is run by Vadim Curtis, who came home after years in Denmark.
Like many Moldovans, Vadim went abroad for work. He ended up in Denmark, working with timber alongside Danish craftsmen, and discovered something no book teaches: how people in the north live through winter.
There, a sauna is not a luxury. It is where you meet your friends, recover from a hard week, and sit in silence after a dip in the cold sea. The Danes even have a word for that feeling: hygge.
Every year the question grew louder: why don't we have this at home? We have forests, good craftsmen, real winters — and people who know how to enjoy a good evening.
So Vadim came back. He opened a workshop at home in Coteala, Briceni district, learned to work with the timber found here, and gathered a small team of skilled people. Today that workshop builds saunas, hot tubs, gazebos and A-frame houses for the whole country.
I wanted what I saw in the north to exist at home too. Not as a copy, but made by our hands, from our timber, for our people.

Three simple things
Honest about materials
Oak, acacia and linden come from our own forests. Spruce and larch come from the Carpathians, because conifers barely grow in Moldova. We say so openly.
Built to last
We build for decades of winters, not for a photo. If we would not put it in our own garden, we will not put it in yours.
