Hot tubs

Hot water, open sky, steam rising into cold air. The best evening of the week.

A ciubăr is our answer to "what do we do outdoors in winter?". It heats with firewood to 38–40 °C in 2–3 hours and works all year round — it is at its best in the snow.

The timber

What we build with

Spruce / larch

Carpathians, kiln-dried

Larch is dense and resinous — highly water-resistant.

Fibreglass

Moulded liner

Smooth and hygienic: easy to wash and keeps the water warm for longer.

6–8 mm steel

Stove welded in Moldova

Thick walls that never warp and keep the fire going for hours.

We are open about where our timber comes from: hardwoods from Moldovan forests, and conifers from the Carpathians via local suppliers, because they barely grow here.

Questions

Good to know

How much firewood does it use?

Roughly 2–3 armfuls of dry hardwood for the first heat-up, then just a few logs an hour to hold the temperature.

How often do I change the water?

Without a filter, after 1–3 uses. With a sand filter and treatment, water lasts for several weeks.

Can I use it in winter?

Yes — winter is the best season. Just drain it or keep the fire going in hard frost so the pipes do not freeze.

Fibreglass or natural timber?

Timber is authentic and cheaper but needs more care. Fibreglass cleans in a minute — the right choice for frequent use and guesthouses.
